Blizzard Entertainment plans to buy Proletariat, according to VentureBeat. Proletariat is the developer of Spellbreak, a multiplayer action-spellcasting game.

On June 28th, the Spellbreak Development Team actually announced that after more than four years, they’ve made the decision to end development on the game.

The plan for the team of 100 at Proletariat is that they’ll be assigned to work on World of Warcraft. Blizzard is set to launch Dragonflight, and WotLK Classic later this year.

The specifics of the deal have not been made public. This is all happening at a a busy time for the company. Vicarious Visions recently just officially merged with Blizzard, and Activision Blizzard is currently in the process of being acquired by Microsoft.

This should bode well for World of Warcraft. There are enough similarities between Spellbreak and World of Warcraft that the team from Proletariat should integrate well.
